The Long Road Ahead
It takes years to rebuild after a disaster as big as the one LA has faced. Evidence shows it can take an average of 3-5 years to rebuild homes and up to 15 years to rebuild the community. Even as much of the world moves on from this tragedy, we are committed to supporting those affected by the LA fires throughout this next year and years to come as they pick themselves back up after this great loss.
Many professionals in the beauty industry have stepped up to soothe the devastating effects of the fires, with brands, salons, and stylists offering free products and services. Beauty corporations have also banded together to raise money for local relief efforts, including paying for victims' clothing, food, and other bills.
As we gather information for the evolving needs to support fire victims in LA our beginning steps are to mobilize a team of volunteers to give away Sam Villa blow dryers, hot tools and hair brushes to close to 100 families impacted by the Easton Fire in Altadena where the medium income is $53,000 a year. We will keep you up to date and share with you our plans that we hope will inspire our community during this devastating time.
The Beyond Project in Los Angeles
Since our inception, we have envisioned having a major presence in Los Angeles. A city that boasts of over 9.3 million residents and the most populated county in the US. We have been operating in LA since 2016, when we hosted our very first Beyond Project with a shelter for youth experiencing homelessness. We have continued to grow our programming and nonprofit partnerships since that time. Currently, our goal is to mobilize more professionals throughout LA County in 2025 to meet the needs of this community, including those impacted by the fires.
